About Miss Annie

Miss. Annie Philips was born in Kingston, Jamaica in the heart of the Waterhouse community. She grew up watching both her mother and father make local Caribbean dishes in the kitchen everyday. Much like her parents Annie raised her four children to cook by example. Although Annie swears Jamaica food to be the best in the world she spent 18 years living in Venezuela. Influenced by the Latin American cuisine, her favorite of them all is Arepa with egg, cheese and butter. Outside of wiping up delicious, affordable and savory dishes in her cozy house on her spare time she enjoys interior decorating, going to church, and watching her favorite television show It Seems Beautiful

Miss Annie is the office attendant at the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition in Kingston, Jamaica.  Tara and Juanita are Canadian Interns under the Interagency Coalition of AIDS and Development working at the Caribbean Vulnerable Communities Coalition in Kingston, Jamaica. Both have taken on the challenge to learn how to cook locally and budget-friendly dishes with Ms Annie's advice. Join them on their journey to become Jamaican chefs!
